Devon DeJardin
Devon DeJardin (B. 1993, Portland, Oregon; lives and works in Los Angeles) is a self-taught artist working across painting, drawing, and sculpture. His work revolves around the concept of the guardian: an abstract, geometric figure that draws from religious iconography, architectural form, and mythological symbolism. These guardians act as secular totems or stand-ins for the unseen forces, challenges, and internal shifts that shape human experience.
Influenced by his studies of global spiritual traditions and the compositional rigor of artists such as Picasso, Krasner, and Nevelson, DeJardin’s refined visual language balances strength and softness, control and surrender. His layered surfaces and introspective palettes invite contemplation, framing the guardians not as specific deities but as universal emblems of resilience, protection, and personal transformation.
Recent solo exhibitions include Echoes of the Past at Albertz Benda, New York (2024) and Pareidolia at Carl Kostyál, Stockholm (2024). DeJardin will be presenting his first solo museum exhibition in the fall of 2026 at the Long Beach Museum of Art in Long Beach, CA. His work is held in the permanent collection of Space K Museum, Seoul and the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.
